That could answer a few specific question I have..
I’ve never had one but I’m looking to hire one and I was wondering some things.
As much as most classical/opera singers usually have much more talent than rock singers, that’s really not at all where I plan on doing performances. I plan closer to the rock genre so would most classically trained teachers still be able to help me without me having to sing some 1800 italian composition? Lol.
Yes yes, I know that opera has some very important things to be taught, but I just don’t think it’ll be time effective for me learning italian/french opera pieces when it’ll just distract me and discourage me because I know I won’t ever be singing like that, so would they still be able to help me singing the kind of music I like?
You might say well don’t get a classical singing teacher and that sounds great and all but I haven’t been able to find a non-classical singing teacher (that actually knows what they’re doing)
for the sake of just singing, could I probably get them to not try to teach the whole music theory thing? Not that I think it isn’t important, but I already am a good bit into music theory and I can only take these lessons one hour a week so that would be a waste.
and could you describe a normal day at practice? I’m not a beginner but i’m not a twenty year trained expert or any thing.
Thanks to some one who does. (please only answer if you actually are a trained singing teacher or maybe you’ve been a student for a while)

What would a girl think of a guy who’s really into computers? I am 17 years old Junior in High School and I am basically a computer geek because I like to work on computers and I know how to operate one and fix one. I am also into programming but I am a beginner at it, And I also Animate and do some 3D Modeling on it also and I hope to get a video game coming along soon and I like to draw also.
So I was just wondering if a girl would date a guy who’s like me. And most girls I know think I’m cute and say I have pretty eyes and I have some Italian, Sicilian, and Mexican heritage in me but people say I look Italian or Sicilian.
I really suck at asking girls out because I’m shy but I would want to know if any girls at school found out I like this stuff would date a person like me. I only go for a girls personality and not their looks and I also wear glasses. And I’m wondering if any girls would go for me if they found out I am a computer geek.
Sorry for the long question and if it didn’t made any since.

has anybody done it?
i don’t mean people majoring in languages i mean from beginners to advanced.
i know there are sites and colleges that do this for all levels, beginner to advanced, but i want someones experiences as to whether its a good idea and generally whats it like?
also if poss roughly what are costs and such like?
want to study italian and i don’t know if should just learn from my lessons here, then go LIVE with my grandad for 6-7 months out there, MAYBE get a job in a bar (people who own it speak english as well) or perhaps look into going to one of these colleges in florence or somewhere and learning that way with a teacher who takes you out amongst other things (obv cost is a huge factor in this)
don’t know where to startlookingn and i don’t think my local council is of any help, a nudge in the right direction would be good but any info is just as welcome

I have a small class (3) of 7 – 8 year old girls starting next week and am looking for a good course book. There are so many available I am a bit overwhelmed! The girls are Italian and go to a bi-lingual school so are not outright beginners. I also have a one to one class with another girl of the same age who is quite a handful, I have to keep her constantly amused, and could do with a good book for her. Any suggestions?
I teach privately.

Ok..so I am stationed in Portugal and thought thier wine was pretty good till i went to Italy and tasted their variety. Italy had the best wine ever. I am a beginner with it and drank the sweet stuff first. now i wanna try something less sweet but not so bitter. i would also like to know why i can’t stand drinking portuguese wine after trying italian wine. Do some area of the world just have better grapes?

I have to teach an absolute beginner French for business purposes, on a one to one basis, and have a two hour slot to fill. I don’t know if we will have access to any audio equipment. This seems like a long time for me, has anyone got any ideas? I usually teach English but I have never taught any language at such a basic level. The student is Italian. I have googled but found a lot of dead links, has anyone any live ones?
Thanks musicguy, I had already planned to do that, but wanted to look at a set lesson plan, like I say, 2 hours is a long time!

Please give me a suggestion on EVERYTHING. Currently I thought of buying M. Graham oils and raphael brushes at italian art store.com. With the mediums and brushes at dickblick.com, but I still think I can get better deals, I am not exactly a beginner and want to try out artist oils, so please help.

I’ve ALWAYS loved singing. I’m 13 and have been singing since I was like 4. I really want to get serious about it. I’m going to take singing lessons, but what kind am I supposed to take? There is classical, Italian, etc. What should a beginner take? Also are there any techniques and exercises I could use to help make my voice better? Other than going up and down the scale. I kind of know this girl (Not personally) who is getting famous. I asked her if she has taken singing lessons and she said yes. She said that when you sing high notes your supposed to make a "Little pinch" in your stomach. What is she talking about? Also, could someone PLEASE tell me how to sing from my diaphragm? PLEASE?! Everytime I post a question in this section, hardly anyone answers. PLEASE ANSWER EVER IF YOU DON;’T KNOW HOW TO ANSWER MY QUESTION! I need all the advice I can get. Thanks! =]
P.S. I was in choir in 4th grade for half of the year, and in 7th grade for the whole year. This year (8th grade) I will be in choir for the second semester. In High School there is this thing called Mezzo Soprano. It’s kind of like a choir but you have to audition. I’m sure I’ll be able to get in because I’ve been told that I’m pretty good at singing. Now I KNOW I’m not great, so that’s why I want to take lessons, etc! I’m also most likely going to join drama. I want to learn how to play the flute and piano too. Sound good? Thanks! =D
